Peak level

Processing runs in your browser. The source and decoded audio are not uploaded. Codec support and available memory vary by device; longer files may be refused. Output is 48 kHz PCM16 WAV. Save it before leaving this page.

ONE REAL TASK

Headroom for your next edit.

A quiet voice memo or an audio clip that needs more headroom before editing. The default target is −1 dBFS sample peak; gain is limited to +18 dB to avoid extreme amplification.

Keep your original

The source stays on your device. Each run creates a separate WAV. Undo clears the processed result; choosing another file clears this workspace.

Know the boundary

Peak normalization is not LUFS loudness normalization, compression or true-peak limiting. Different recordings can still sound different in volume. It also raises existing noise and cannot restore clipped or missing speech.

Free means the complete result

This tool has no account gate, payment gate or 30-second export cut-off. The separate AI noise removal tool offers a short free listening preview and paid full-file processing.

From recording to result

  1. Choose a mono or stereo recording. Nothing is uploaded for processing.

  2. Pick a sample-peak ceiling. Start at −1 dBFS for some headroom.

  3. Apply, compare the gain and download the full WAV. Your source file is never overwritten.

Supported input: readable WAV, MP3 or M4A audio, mono or stereo, up to 50 MB and 10 minutes. A decoded-memory guard can reject a smaller file. Video and multichannel input are not supported. Output is WAV; an M4A extension does not guarantee a browser-readable codec.

Before you process

Is this a LUFS normalizer?

No. It measures the largest sample peak and applies a constant gain. It does not claim a podcast or broadcast loudness standard.

Does it compress my voice?

No. The same gain is applied to every sample in both channels. It preserves the recording’s relative dynamics.

Why is my quiet file still below the target?

The tool caps amplification at +18 dB. Very quiet recordings may remain below the target instead of receiving extreme gain.

What happens with a silent file?

It stays silent and remains a playable WAV. There is no division by zero and no generated sound.
