Know the boundary
Level detection cannot recognize words. Quiet speech and breaths can fall below your threshold; background noise can hide pauses. Lower the threshold if soft words disappear. This tool changes timing, so it is audio-only and does not keep a video in sync.

Supported input: readable WAV, MP3 or M4A audio, mono or stereo, up to 50 MB and 10 minutes. A decoded-memory guard can reject a smaller file. Video and multichannel input are not supported. Output is WAV; an M4A extension does not guarantee a browser-readable codec.
Before you process
Does silence removal also remove fan noise?
It shortens sustained quiet gaps. It does not separate speech from noise. Try AI noise removal if a fan or hiss continues during speech.
Will it cut quiet words?
It can if you set the threshold too high. The detector is not speech recognition. Use conservative settings, compare soft phrases and keep the original.
Why is the recording shorter?
Long sections below the selected threshold are removed. Padding and a short pause remain at internal joins; the result has a different timeline.
